This papercraft sculpture was made a year ago. Since than I took the model down to refine some of the features. It was made too small and some of the details on the face were really hard to assemble. Now I've redone it. It is taller than my previous model, changed the face a bit and simplified it a bit more. No drastic changes though.
The Christ Redeemer statue in Brazil is one of the world monuments I like best. It's almost instantly recognizable and it is a good symbol of Rio. Also I do think it's placed great, on top of the mountain Corcovado standing magnificently.
Some facts about the statue: original statue height is 30 m or 98 ft (38 m with the pedestal) and the arms stretch 28 meters (92 ft) wide. It was build in 1931.
And here are some facts of the papercraft sculpture you are about to make:
The assembled size of the model is:
523 x 331 x 215 or
or
21 x 13 x 8.4 in
(with the pedestal)
The template is laid on 11 A4/Letter sheets. If you have different size of sheet, just use the "fit to paper size" option on your PDF reader. I have detached the pedestal and put it on the last 5 pages so you could decide if you want it or not. The shape of the pedestal is improvised and it's not accurate to the original.
Estimated assembly time is around 4 hours.
