SmagaPaperwood

Smaga Paperwood is a paper sculpture studio in the Polish countryside. We are Monika and Krzysztof — both graduates of Industrial Design department at the Academy of Fine Arts, with fifteen years of practice behind our work.
Twelve years ago we left the city. We found a plot of land on the edge of the forest where the river bends, and built a wooden house and a studio there. The seasons set our pace more than the calendar does.

We chose to work with paper because it embodies the magic of everyday life. It is honest, recyclable, structurally surprising, and full of colour. A decoration made from it can exist for a season, a year, a decade — and when it has served its purpose, it simply disappears. No plastic. No waste.
